lyrics

Grey day to greet us, the bed a war-torn battlefield for me;
You slide away from my touch, you don't want me as I clearly see.
Silence thick as morning fog, yet ringing loudly in my ears;
Glances we give now have nullified the distant joyful years.

CHORUS:
Two strangers are what we are, we have nothing to say;
What's the point in prolonging this for one more day?
We stand on opposite sides, each bearing our weight;
Too scared to let things go, yet our hair's turning more grey each day.

Shouting matches over breakfast, with hearts torn like shredded wheat;
Insults traded like sweet nothings, the mistakes that we repeat.
Staying out of each other's hair, a short-lived detente is to hand;
One false move or word and surely the flames will be quickly fanned

REPEAT CHORUS

MIDDLE 8:
Do you remember the circumstances of how we met?
Introduced by mutual friends, we'd never forget.
But now we have grown apart and just can't hide the cracks;
If you want to go, then go but I won't be here when you get back.

What we shared has now left and there's no chance it will ever return;
Why waste any more time on things that are just not our concern?
Too late to mend the fence, talking things out won't save our hides now;
Accept that it's all over and we have our own furrows to plow.
